Prototype of web-based tool using integrated approaches for self-PM2.5 management for Maha Sarakham Province

A web-based tool prototype for PM2.5 management in Maha Sarakham province was developed. This tool was designed with the aim to build local capacity by disseminating PM2.5 pollution research information via different platforms (e.g., text, media, and dramatic performance). Information regarding its research findings, monitoring data from several sources, potential sources & emission estimations, legal measures for pollution prevention & control, and successful reduction in community biomass burning were considered. This tool will also support policymakers in establishing their own short and long-term PM2.5 strategic plans with integrated approaches. Lessons learned from past studies, literature reviews, best PM2.5 emission control community practices, and long-term collaborative experiences with local governments were included in the website design. An overview of the web-based tool provided an alternative guideline for each local administration to prepare necessary actions for continuous PM2.5 management at the site of interest. Establishing PM2.5 pollution control guidelines and sharing essential data by local governments are co-beneficial indicators critical to the sustainable use of the PM2.5 self-management tool.
